Badarganj (Rangpur) Correspondent: A fire broke out in a warehouse in Badarganj Municipality at which goods worth at least Tk 3 million were burnt to ashes. The fire broke out at midnight last Saturday in an area called Shaheed Minar. Mizanur Rahman, station officer of Badarganj Fire Service, initially thought that the incident could be due to an electrical short circuit. A general diary was kept at Badarganj police station yesterday. According to the affected traders and locals, Mokshedul Haque, senior vice-president of Badarganj Business Association and a property dealer, rented a warehouse for Rs. Various goods including food items were kept in the warehouse. Last Saturday night, at about half past one, smoke suddenly started coming out from the windows of the warehouse. Later, the locals informed the Badarganj Fire Service and the fire service personnel came and broke down the door and brought the fire under control. By then, a large quantity of goods inside the warehouse had been burnt to ashes. The son of the affected businessman Mokshedul Haque said, "We rent the warehouse for wholesale business and keep the goods." There were various products of Pran Company including various biscuits, drinks, coils. Mizanur Rahman, station officer of Badarganj Fire Service, said it was initially thought that the fire could be caused by an electrical short circuit. Badarganj Police Station OC (Investigation) Nur Alam said a general diary has been filed at the police station on behalf of the affected traders. The fire service was called in to help with the outbreak.
