Oilseeds Research Field in Bari Day 4 Sahiduzzaman

Oilseeds Research Field in Bari Day 4 Sahiduzzaman. Welcoming remarks were made by the Chief Scientific Officer and Project Director of the Oilseed Research Center. Ferdousi Begum. Guests attending the Field Day event inspected a variety of research activities at the research grounds of the Oilseeds Research Center in Bari. Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Director General of Bari Dr. Debashish Sarkar said that the production of edible oil in our country is much less than the demand. This is because the amount of arable land in the country is very low and the amount of this land is decreasing every year due to various reasons. As a result, we have to import edible oil worth about 20-22 thousand crore rupees every year. In the 50 years since independence, scientists at the Bari Oilseed Research Center have developed 50 high-yielding varieties of different oilseed crops. If we can deliver these high yielding varieties to the farmers then the production of edible oil in the country will increase and the volume of imports will decrease. Besides, we have to increase the cultivation of oil, pulses and vegetable crops in haors, saline areas and char areas.
